ou can purchase your own ticket or get an invitation; you can drive your own car to the venue or get a ‘lift’ – but you cannot wear whatever pleases you to the forthcoming 7th edition of the Ghana Movie Awards , therefore, actors and patrons who intend to go slay the red carpet should get the memo.
One of the apparels patrons cannot wear to the Awards is short dress and this directive was communicated by the organizer of the event, Fred Nuamah, as he told KMJ on ‘Daybreak Hitz’ on Hitz FM and monitored by www.entertainmentgh.com.
“The prescribed attire for the awards is tuxedo or black tie for the men and evening/dinner gown for the ladies. No short dresses will be allowed,” he pointed out.
He also stated that, this year’s edition, which will be held at the Kempinski Hotel, will not accommodate a large number of patrons and very limited tickets will be put out on sale.
Commenting on the number of movies that were submitted, the CEO of the Awards revealed that, over 500 films were submitted, with many coming from the Northern and Ashanti Regions.
On the state of the movie industry, Mr. Nuamah expressed that, the film industry is not dying as being asserted by some industry players and movie followers.
“The industry is not dying. The filmmakers are working. The issue is that, movies are not being released on DVDs anymore. This is happening in Hollywood too. They are sent to IROKO and Netflix and others,” he explained.
The 7th edition of the Ghana Movie Awards is on December 4, 2016 and will be telecast live on DSTv and other local channels
