football fans were arrested at the Kumasi Sports Stadium on Wednesday
morning when they taunted Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan over musician
Castro’s disappearance at the Black Stars training session.
The
police swooped to arrest the two fans to prevent them from being beaten
up by some supporters who were angry over the comments over the loud
comments directed at the Black Stars captain.shouting The two
20-year-olds students of the Koforidua Polytechnic started ‘Asamoah Gyan – where is Castro’ directing that at the UAE-based
attacker as the Black Stars arrived for training on Wednesday morning.
Angry
at what many of the fans thought were insensitive comments from Isaac
Owusu and Bright Nistowel, the supporters turned on the duo threatening
to beat them up.
The police at the stadium quickly swooped to
arrest the duo to prevent them from being beaten up by the angry crowd
who were gathering around them.
Some fans hooted at the two students as they were marched by the police for detention and further investigations.
While
the police were marching them away the two lads were seen trading
accusations over who mouthed the provocative words towards Asamoah Gyan
in the stands.
Castro, a famous music icon in Ghana, disappeared
and feared dead in July while on holidays at the Ada resort with his
close friend Gyan.
It is feared he drowned while boating riding on the river in the holiday resort and his body has since not be found.
The
Black Stars have been camping in Kumasi ahead of Saturday’s match
against Uganda in Kumasi in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. |
